Adam argues that while the pandemic has led to significant changes in our lives, many of these shifts are temporary. He suggests that we often overestimate the permanence of changes brought on by shock events, and that, over time, behaviors will likely revert to pre-pandemic norms. The concept of the "end of history illusion" highlights our tendency to believe that the present moment is a definitive endpoint, when in reality, change is an ongoing journey.
